Tattoo Needles

Tattoo needles come in many different needle configurations and sizes. Some are flat, some are round, some are meant for shading and some for coloring or doing line work. As a beginning tattoo artist you may find this overwhelming, but as you learn and practice you will begin to figure out the use of each type of tattoo needle.

Need to order some needles? Here is a good cheap deal on some I found on Amazon: 50 Assorted Pre-sterilized tattoo needles.

Vintage Tattoos

Vintage Tattoos or sometimes referred to as “old school” tattoos are as popular as ever. However, finding the right design can be difficult. Are you planning on getting an old school tat and can’t find exactly what you are looking for?

Vintage Tattoos: The Book of Old-School Skin Art has page after page of vintage skin art for you to look through!

Vintage Tattoos

Tattoos have gone from badges of rebellion to fashion statements fully absorbed into mainstream culture. They are enjoying a renaissance, with graphic designers and artists creating specialty tattoos for a growing audience, unleashing a revival of interest in the bawdy vintage tattoo. Old school tattoos are being rediscovered (sometimes ironically, sometimes not) by a new generation. Originally embraced by rebels, sailors, and gangsters, these tattoos—broken hearts, naked girls, floral motifs, and maritime emblems—are now showing up on the fashion runway and in music videos. This book chronicles vintage motifs in thematic chapters interspersed with profiles of influential tattoo artists and their distinctive designs: Sailor Jerry Collins, Don Ed Hardy (“the Godfather of Tattoos”), Mike “Rollo Banks” Malone, Bert Grimm, Japan’s Horiyoshi III, and Shanghai’s Pinky Yun.

Dragon Tattoo Design

People have been asking me for “dragon tattoo ideas” and since I started this site to help people looking for tattoo designs and or artists looking for dragon designs, I wanted to update today with one of the best resources you can have as an artist for designing “Dragon Tattoo Designs.”

Dragon Tatooo Designs

Dragon Tattoo Design by Ed Hardy. Illustrations of dragon tattoos by a tattooing master, including design, mythology, portfolio and notes.

Yes, the book costs a couple of bucks, but it is well worth it and a very nice addition to your book shelf. Not only for the artist looking to further his level of artistic ability in dragon tattoo drawing but as well as the person who enjoys getting tattoos and wants an in-depth look at the history of this sacred tattoo: the Dragon.

Dragon Tattoo Design Ideas

And to be honest, if you are the type looking to get your entire back tattooed in dragon design, this book will be a treasure to finding what you are looking for.
